Elect Ultan Duggan for Mendota Heights Mayor

My vision for Mendota Heights is of a safe, friendly city, with quieter skies, cleaner air and water—a more business friendly place, offering community events such as music at Mendota Plaza or public art and more entertainment at other venues.

While it is very important to continue providing essential services: police, fire and public works at lowest cost, it is equally important to see how our city will be in 7-10 years. Will the City Council control growth? Will the city create an even more favorable tax base with a stronger commercial/industrial area? Can the City Council work with developers to provide much needed independent living housing for the next group of baby boomers? What consideration does the City Council have for the influx of very welcome young families bringing with them very different needs? Will our services be adequate to address changing demographics which Met. Council projects for every community?

Will we plan for these changes or will we continue the "we're in such good shape, we don't need to worry"? Complacency brings on unexpected problems. Poorly thought out fixes that many cities put in place speak to the need for careful planning: planning with a vision that preserves the essence of Mendota Heights. "A great city to live, play, work and stay."

That's the challenge I look forward to taking on; but not alone. Such a practical vision can only be realized with the working of the whole council body, working as a team energetically, enthusiastically and with passion.
